Hero of the Day: Danous Estenor

What would you do if you saw someone in need; help them or walk on as if you had not seen anything? Last February USF lineman, Danous Estenor lifted a 3,500 pound Cadillac to save a man trapped underneath.

The lineman, standing 6’3’’ and 306 pounds said that he was walking to the cafeteria for dinner when he saw the scene. A tow-truck driver was trying to hitch the 1990 Cadillac Seville to the tow-truck but he got caught underneath the front right tire.
Estenor said that as he was walking, the first thing he thought was to continue to dinner as if he had not seen anything. However, with a stroke of bravery and courage he went to help the man who was crying for help.

The car did not budge the first time Estenor tried to lift it, but he said when he thought about how badly hurt the man was and that he would most likely die without help, Estenor built up the strength to lift the car while someone else pulled him out from underneath. Luckily, the man survived with only a few bruises as well as a dislocated shoulder.

It’s not every day a man is trapped underneath a car, but it seems more uncommon to see someone willing to help a stranger in need.
